Living the Suite Life

Its been an interesting last few days for me. Wednesday and Thursday of last week I spent the whole day in time management training. I think it may really help, not only the way I get work done, but also the ways I spend my free time. The training focused on a technique of dumping all the little projects you have running around in your brain, and then thinking about what physical action you can take on them next. It offers a surprising amount of mental clarity allowing you to focus on the things you can actually take action on at that exact moment. On Friday I got a visit from my old friend Jackie, a USF MBA classmate. She was in San Francisco for 4 days for a trade show, and I swung by on my half day on Friday to check out her booth. Her company sells Fiberglass doors that look like real wood. She was actually working, so I took off to find W's internship in Fremont so I could pick up our tickets for a baseball game on Saturday. Later Jackie and I sat down for sushi at my favorite sushi place, where the owner knows W and I by name. I warned Jackie she might get the evil eye when we walked in, and sure enough she got it. I assured the owner that W was at work, and our meeting had her blessing and that I was bringing home leftovers for W, and then everything was fine. Saturday we were fairly lazy, with the exception of a trip out to the A's Giants game. W's internship had paid for a suite, and provided copious amounts of pizza, wings, salad, chips and popcorn. The A's lost 1-0, but our view was amazing. We were high above Center field looking straight ahead into the catchers mitt.
Sunday, I sat around and watched the Olympic trials for a while, and I find that my heart still beats a bit faster when they ring the bell for the last lap. I even found myself motivated enough to go out for a run. It actually felt good, and our weather is cool enough I actually had to dress warmly to fight off the breeze coming off the bay at sunset. Have I mentioned how much I love living here?
